Buffy Star Talks About Scooby Role

BURBANK, Calif. (AP) Talk is swirling around a kiss between Linda Cardellini and Sarah Michelle Gellar in the new "Scooby-Doo" movie. The producer and writer of "Scooby-Doo" are calling the lip-lock between the Velma and Daphne characters a "protoplasmic exchange," but Gellar says it was a kiss.

Gellar should know. The "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star won an MTV Movie Award in 2000 for her kiss with Selma Blair in "Cruel Intentions."
With her kiss with Linda Cardellini on the cutting-room floor, Gellar jokes that she has lost out on an MTV repeat.
"I'm a bitter, bitter bitter actor. I could have been a two-time winner," Gellar said.
Gellar is no stranger to hand-to-hand combat, but she needed about three weeks to learn how to tone down her Buffy persona and fight like Daphne for "Scooby-Doo."
"On top of that to learn how to do it in that outfit with those heels and to make it seem funny and like Daphne," Gellar said.
"Scooby-Doo" opens in theaters on Friday.
