THE red carpet premiere of the new Scooby-Doo movie on the Gold Coast has given way to red faces, with stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr cancelling their trip Down Under at the last minute.

Gellar and Prinze, the heart-throb Hollywood couple who became engaged while making Scooby-Doo on the Coast last year, were to have starred at the movie's Australian premiere at Movie World next week.
They were also to test-ride the theme park's new $14 million Scooby-Doo roller coaster.
More than 400 invitations to the VIP extravaganza were sent out weeks ago.
Roadshow Film Distributors announced yesterday that the two stars would not be coming "due to conflicting schedules".
Movie World chief John Menzies said he did not know the reasons behind the celebrity couple's no-show but was "very disappointed".
"In my experience with the movie industry, you can never make plans about stars," Mr Menzies said.
"It's very unpredictable and things happen over there (in Hollywood) that are out of our control. But we're still going to have a fabulous night, with the opening of two blockbuster attractions – the Scooby-Doo movie and the Scooby-Doo ride."
It's the second blow in a week for the Gold Coast's movie industry, after the Brad Pitt movie, The Last Man, was scrapped. It was to have been filmed at the new taxpayer-funded studios at Movie World.
