In the Beatles\' day, Ed Sullivan was everything. These days it\'s Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Which means that for Melbourne\'s suave dudes of power pop, Even, opportunity officially knocks.

Ash Naylor, Wally Kempton and Matt Cotter have been refining a dizzying blend of ringing electric guitars, harmony vocals and sugar-coated choruses since 1994. Unfathomably, three flawless albums of the stuff have garnered more critical respect than radio airplay. How embarrassing that mainstream recognition should come via the soundtrack of an American TV program. Their track Seconds features in episode six of the current series of Buffy.

The coup comes in tandem with an invitation to play South London\'s Fierce Festival, to whence Even disappear after these May dates. Local fans can take heart that their new single, Rock\'n\'Roll Save My Life, has recently hit high rotation on Nova. It\'s the latest tune lifted from their Different High LP.
