Two new vampires arrive in town also - Spike and Drusilla who were old pals of Angels. Angel sired Drusilla and Drusilla sired Spike, and together they are not a good combination. Spike has killed two slayers in his time and is now gunning for Buffy, a task which Buffy is all too ready for until...

Buffy and Angel's romance which was held back to some degree last year further developed to the point where the two of them were madly in love. Yet there was one part of Angels curse that was not yet known to anyone. If Angel were to have one true moment of pure happiness he would revert back to Angelus - the worst vampire the world had ever seen. Unfortunately for Buffy this one true moment of happiness occured on her 17th birthday when the two of them made love. Now she has to battle not only Spike and Drusilla, but also Angelus.

Buffy would not only have to fight Angelus but also her mother whom she had told she was a vampire slayer. Joyce didn't take this very well, as this was a secret that Buffy had hidden from her for a couple of years, and consequently told Buffy if she left the house to save the world from Angelus then not to expect to come back.

Buffy: Open your eyes, Mom. What do you think has been going on for the last two years? The fights, the wierd occurances- how many times have you washed blood out of my clothes? You still haven't figured it out?


Joyce: Well it stops, now!!"


Buffy: It doesn't stop! Do you think I chose to be like this? Do you know how lonely it is? How Dangerous? I would love to be upstairs watching TV or gossiping about boys, or God, even studying. But I have to save the world. Again.

Finally Buffy was strong enough to fight Angel who had killed Ms Calendar and at the present is torturing Giles. Angel is wanting to bring forth Acathla a demon that will suck everything on earth into hell, including Buffy. Buffy is able to stop Angel by driving a sword through him and into Acathla, however at that time Angel's soul had been fully restored. It appears Willow was able to conduct the spell which originally gave Angel his soul once again. But Buffy had to save the world and in doing so had to send Angel into hell.

Bottom line is, even if you seem 'em coming, you're not ready for the big moments. No one asks for their life to change, not really. But it does. So, what, are we helpless? Puppets? No. The big moments are gonna come, can't help that. it's what you do afterward that counts. That's when you find out who you are." - Whistler in BECOMING PART 1.
