Buffy Anne Summers was born in 1981, to her now divorced parents Hank and Joyce Summers. Presumably she was brought up in Los Angeles as a young child. Ironically, Buffy used to to pretend to be "Power Girl", a superhero when she was young, it wouldn't be until much later in her life though that she would realise how close to reality this would actually be. Her first experience with death was the passing away of her close cousin Celia which lead Buffy to a hate of hospitals.
In the fall of 1995, Buffy started attending Hemery High School in Los Angeles. In 1996 she was elected as the May Queen of her high school, being amongst the "popular" crowed. It was also then that she learnt from her first Watcher that she was the Chosen One and it was her duty to save the world. Her first experiences of Slayerhood were extremely hard, having to watch her Watcher, Merrick, be killed and she also managed to burn down the school gymnasium in which she was consequently expelled for.
Her parents then divorced, from which Joyce obtained custody of Buffy and they both moved to 1630 Revello Drive in Sunnydale, California. Buffy, amongst a bit of controversy was admitted into Sunnydale High. Awaiting for her there was Rupert Giles, her new Watcher, who was also the school librarian. After first she was reluctant to take up her slaying duties, but after a death of a peer, she knew she could not run from her destiny.
Buffy soon develops some new friends at Sunnydale High, namely Willow and Xander. Together with Giles and Angel they form the Scooby Gang. Xander is the first "Civilian" to learn of Buffy's identity, when he overhears Giles and Buffy talking in the library, however Willow learns the hard way. Willow starts to "sieze the day" and in doing so nearly ends up being killed by a vampire however Buffy soon saves the day and Willow then learns the secret.

Buffy meets a "Cryptic Man" in Sunnydale whom she will soon fall in love with. His name is Angel and he wants to help Buffy fight the vampires. First off he just leaves her messages of appending doom which is about to occur, but soon enough his secret comes out in a moment of embrace with Buffy - Angel is a cursed vampire. This presents a problem for Buffy, but though they both deny that they can never have what they want, they feel the total opposite.
Buffy's biggest challenge this in her first year at Sunnydale would not be Biology, but her battle against The Master. It was phrophercised that The Master shall rise and the Slayer shall die. This sends Buffy into a spin who tries to quit her destiny. but soon realizes that she is the only one that can stop him. However as it was written Buffy died, but only for a moment, as Angel and Xander had come to save Buffy and Xander using CPR managed to revive Buffy and Buffy was able to return to the school and defeat the Master who had opened the Hellmouth.
