Willow was born and raised in Sunnydale California and spent her early years completely ignorant of the evil that surrounded the town, living on the mouth of Hell. Her parents Ira nad Sheila Roseberg were very conservative in Willow's upbringing and could never relate to Willow on a personal level as they were to academic to understand her teenage problems.

Willow's life would change forever when she would meet Buffy Summers during her Sophmore year at High School. Though Buffy had previoulsy been involved with the "popular crowd" at her old school she was looking for some more stability and she could not look past Willow for this. It wasn't long before the two of them became best friends.

Willow found out the hard way about Vampires and Buffy being the Slayer when she was attacked by a Vampire called Thomas after meeting him at the Bronze. Buffy found her in time however and saved her life, and ever since Willow has dedicated herself to helping her friend. At first Willow was mostly helpful with the research and computer hacking side of things, it wasn't long before she developed a keen interest in magic and spellcasting. As Giles had been trained in the use of magics he was able to cast certain spells given enough preparation. Jenny Calendar, a technopagan also aided Giles to some extent. However when Jenny was brutally murdered by Angel, Willow who had admired her, took up the earth-worship aspects of Wicca and the spell casting elements of witchcraft.

"I tired to communicate with the spirit world and I so wasn't ready for that. It was like being pulled apart inside. Plus I blew the power for our whole block. Big scare." - Willow in "DEAD MAN'S PARTY"

It was also during this time that Willow started dating Oz. Oz was the lead guitarist in "The Dingoes Ate My Baby" and despite Willow and Xander had some kind of attraction they agreed that their hearts belonged to their sweethearts - Oz and Cordelia.

Willow's first big break through in spell casting was being able to restore Angelus's soul which would once restore the noble Angel, though she would never find out it worked until Buffy would reveal it much later. This occurred too late however as Angel had already opened a vortex into hell and the only way to close it was for Buffy to send him into it. This would cause Buffy immence pain knowing that she had to send a restored Angel to the depths of hell.

Willow:"...I tried that spell to cure Angel. I guess that was a bust, but after that just, you know small stuff. Floating feather, fire out of ice, which next time I won't do on the bed spread - are you made at me?"

Giles:"Of course not. If I were angry I believe I would be making a strange clucking sound with my tongue."

Her relationship with Oz was tested a number of times, especially when Oz and Cordelia caught Xander and Willow kissing each other. A distraught Oz eventually forgave Willow for what she did and the two moved on together. This is perhaps the only time Willow has been unloyal to any of her friends. To make it up to him Willow tried to seduce Oz with a little bit of Barry White, however Oz is such the kind of guy that he tells her that he wants to wait until there is nothing left for her to prove.

Meanwhile, Willow's relationship with Buffy has taken some blows. Willow really wanted to confide in Buffy during the Xander crisis yet she was too busy with the arrival of Faith to take much notice of her. The two have shared so much in the past - deep secrets and Willow has put her life on the line so often for Buffy, which only shows her loyalty to her. Willow was so loyal to Buffy that she decided to forgo more prestigous colleges to attend the University of California at Sunnydale with her best friend. Yet Buffy would not share with her the mysterious return of Angel.

As the year progresses Willow starts to cast her own spells, and is even called upon by Spike to make a love spell to get Drusilla to love him again. She also makes a protection spell for Buffy's birthday to make sure that nothing will go wrong during it like previous years. Willow also starts to come out of her shell during this year to the extent in which she tells her mother about her abilities as a witch - which doesn't go down to well.

Oz and Willow share their most intimate moment just before the Mayor threatens to end the world. They make love for the first time and Willow glows with radiance.

Willow's freshman year at College would be one of her testing years, with many unexpected changes occuring. The biggest one of these would be Oz and his unfaithfulness to Willow. It started off rather slowly when Oz noticed Veruca singing in her band "Shy" and she clearly noticed him back. This continues, Willow's friends reassure her that Oz wouldn't do anything like this, but then on the second morning of his werewolf cycle, she brings breakfast to him and finds him naked with Veruca. It turns out that Veruca too is werewolf, which would explain the strong attachment the two of them have to each other. Willow is so devestated she almost gets hit by a car as she steps in front of it.

So Willow decides to cast a spell of black magick that will harm Veruca and Oz. However she cannot bring herself to do it, but at the same time Veruca corners her in the school lab just as the sun is going down. However Oz shows up and he and Veruca transform. Oz as a werewolf then kills Veruca, then goes after Willow, however Buffy is there with the tranquilizer gun and saves Willows life. Oz then decides to leave Willow and Sunnydale and won't come back until he has found a cure for the Wolf that is inside of him.

When Willow learns that Oz has got in touch with Devon and sent for the rest of his belongings she gets angry that there is no message for her. Consequently she gets drunk and casts a spell for her will to be done and wills for her heart to be healed. She also wills for other things such as Buffy and Spike to be married exaggerating things out of spite. The demon D'Hoffryn, the same demon that turned Anya into a demon is so impressed with Willow's rage that he offers to turn Willow into a demon. However she says no, so D'Hoffryn gives her his card just in case she changes her mind.

Willow soon meets a shy Tara in her Wicca group and the two have an instant connection. Unlike the rest of the Wicca group they are the only ones who are interested in doing spells as the others don't believe in the spell side. This instant connection is seen when the two of them magically barricade a door with softdrink vending machine. Their relationship continues to grow to the point in which they fall in love.

This however causes a big problem for Willow whe Oz mysteriously comes back with a cure for his werewolf syndrome. Willow is forced to make an impossible decision as to whether to go back to Oz and continue with this new romance she has with Tara. Willow found it hard to discuss this topic with Buffy due to the distance the two of them had drifted apart from each other. Buffy was totally unaware of Willow's feelings for Tara. Eventually Willow chooses with her heart and her heart says Tara.

Willow relationship with Buffy and Xander furhter parted when Spike deliberately tried to separate the "Scooby Gang". This brought unseen tention to the previously unbreakable group however this was soon fixed and the gang was brought back together to defeat Adam, by using a spell that gave Buffy everyones best abilities.

"You two are teh two who are two. I'm the other one" - Willow explains to Buffy and Xander who the two are in "THE YOKO FACTOR"

One can assume that after last years separation, this year Buffy and Willow will become stronger friends than before and her relationship with Tara will also grow. Willow's strongest point is her loyalty and this will see through that the separation that happened last year will not happen again.
